Scenarios

Creating Effective Scenarios

The chat agent will do most of the heavy lifting for you, but there are a few things you can do to help it carve effectively. Provide as many details on your requirements as you can, but don't worry if you miss something. Use specific column titles to refer to data in your account sheet. Answer its questions as best as you can (or tell it to decide if you don't have a preference).

After you run one scenario, you can run another with updated requirements or totally different requirements. You'll be able to compare the results of multiple scenarios in the account sheet, as well as export everything for further analysis.

Interpreting Scenario Results

Once Carve has run your scenario, there are a few key things to look for in your results.

First, you'll see a summary of the scenario in the chat window. That gives you an overview of what the agent did to split up accounts. You can ask it questions about what it did if anything's unclear.

Tip: If you had previously assigned reps in your initial account sheet, the Carve chat agent will likely give you a before-and-after view of what's changed in terms of account ownership. If it doesn't provide this automatically, you can ask it for one.

On the right side, you'll see a table with a summary of your results as well as an updated account sheet with a new column that includes the new territory assignments. You can adjust your view of these elements by using the View Full Screen icon or by dragging the element borders around.

Overrides

Once you've run a scenario, you can add specific overrides so you can tweak your territories based on feedback from your sales team. Overrides let you move accounts to different territories by either uploading a list of overrides, or manually entering them.

Click on the Override Results button in the top right corner.

From here, you can enter overrides manually using the (Overrides) column in the account sheet. Or you can upload a list of overrides with the stacked file button next to the trash can.

Note: This icon will be grayed out if you haven't first added overrides data to your account sheet in the Data tab (left nav). There's more on how to add additional data, including bulk overrides, here.

Running Additional Scenarios

You can run as many different scenarios as you like (subject to your particular account's plan limits of course). You may want to try different "what if" situations or look at how territories would balance out with different requirements.

Deploying Your Results

Once you're happy with a scenario's results, you can deploy them to CRM or export the data for additional analysis.

Deploy to CRM

To send your new territories to CRM, click the Deploy button in the top right corner of your desired scenario. We support export to both Salesforce and HubSpot.

If you haven't already, you'll need to add a CRM connection. Once you have that, fill out a few fields to tell Carve where to put the new data. If you use Bookbuilder, you'll also be able to create and update target books based on your results.

Export Data

If you'd like to dig deeper into your results or send your data to a CRM besides Salesforce or HubSpot, you can also export your results. You can export as a CSV or Excel file, or print. Click on the download arrow on your results window.
